Ear Training & Music Theory

Students ages 11+ take their musicianship to the next level. This series of seven courses carries students from square one to college music and career preparation.

These ear training and music theory courses are not instrument courses. Students develop a discerning ear and understanding eye for music reading and analysis to enable independent musicianship.

What do these courses cover?

Students learn rhythm skills, pitch skills, and other music skills through interactive activities that provide immediate feedback.

The ultimate goal of the Ear Training activities is for musicians to dictate music. That is, hear a tune and write it down using music notes.

The ultimate goal of the Music Theory activities is that students can read and analyze music.

Which course do I choose?

Foundational

Designed for beginning and experienced musicians who haven’t done melodic dictation

  • 60 modules - 20 minutes for each module

  • 75 modules - 25 minutes for each module

  • 90 modules - 30 minutes for each module

  • White Belt, Yellow Belt, & Orange Belt courses compressed into 105 modules - 35 minutes for each module

Intermediate

Designed for high schoolers and adults who are ready to take their musicianship to the next level of performance

  • 120 modules - 40 minutes for each module

  • 120 modules - 40 minutes for each module

Advanced

Designed for high schoolers and adults who want to pursue or further a career in music

  • 150 modules - 45 minutes for each module

  • 150 modules - 45 minutes for each module
