Music can be like a cookie that is filled with cream.
First you have the cookie part, then the cream, and then another cookie part.
If the second cookie part was missing, you wouldn’t have a very good cream filled cookie. You would have a creamy mess!
A good cream filled cookie follows a pattern: cookie + cream + cookie.
Music can be organized into many kinds of patterns. Some music follows our cookie pattern where the middle section is different than the outside sections.
We can represent music patterns with shapes, colors, or special symbols.
We can show our same + different + same cookie pattern lots of different ways:
triangle + square + triangle
red circle + blue circle + red circle
A + B + A
